Urban Nature Orienation Challenge

UNOC is a game, a sort of quest where participants should find their way from one place in the city to another using a specially prepared map. The classical city maps usually help us find our ways in the cities through well-established points of reference: streets, signs, city blocks. UNOC’s map offers to reimagine the way we operate in a city space by challenging the participants to get to the destination using the kind of navigation one would rather use in a forest: trees, sunlight, smells, wind. The maps each team obtained included directions like “cross the hills and let the row of acacias on your right guide you to the top”, or “the two pools of green that you will encounter in about 30 steps will indicate that you are on the right track. Keep going. The wind might get stronger here.”
